The Sierra Nevada is a major mountain range located in the western United States, primarily in California and extending into Nevada. Stretching approximately 400 miles (640 km) from north to south, it is known for its stunning scenery, rich biodiversity, and numerous outdoor recreation opportunities.

• Highest Peak: Mount Whitney, with an elevation of 14,505 feet (4,421 meters).
• National Parks: The range is home to several national parks including Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, and Kings Canyon National Park.
• Geological Features: The mountains are primarily composed of granite, showcasing breathtaking cliffs, deep valleys, and unique rock formations.

Biodiversity

The Sierra Nevada hosts a rich variety of ecosystems, ranging from alpine conditions at higher elevations to diverse forests at gentler slopes.

The riverRAIL house is located in downtown Truckee, CA on the Truckee River. You'll have special experience without the hiking.
